  • Bigyashree Khatri, Communications Co-Lead

Born and raised in Nepal, a country prone to the adverse effects of climate change, I grew up to be an all-rounder student and an advocate. The 10 years of my school life taught me many skills outside of academics like wushu, violin and arts. After high school, I am currently studying Bachelors in Psychology and Social Work in Thames International College, Kathmandu, along with doing internships in the field of mental health. Witnessing the vulnerability of my country, I started growing my interest in the environment and have been actively advocating for climate action as a member of youth-led organizations. Although I don't come from a legal background, I have been participating in various climate change-related events and strongly believe that it is an issue that concerns us all.

Their constitution uniquely enshrines the protection of the environment by dedicating 60% of its land to forest coverage for all times to come – which has inadvertently sparked an interest in him. He aspires to be an advocate in a crucial time where climate change is no more a concept but a reality we're all living with. His involvement with the Climate Change and Environmental Law Clinic, an experiential learning program offered by the law school, and his participation in the WYCJ Asian Front perfectly aligns with his goal of being an environmental advocate.
